How Much to Use

Insulation effectiveness is measured in R-values, which is the ability of the material to resist the flow of heat. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power. Following is a chart of optimum insulation levels. To use it, locate your geographic zone on the map, then find the appropriate R-value for attics, sidewalls and floors.
